On April 12th, AdEPorto - Agência de Energia do Porto, leading the national consortium for the "ASCEND" project, presented the impressive progress and future goals to the Executive and Municipal Ecosystem at the Porto Innovation Hub. This Horizon Europe project, a collaborative effort with Porto Water and Energy Company (AEdP), Porto Digital Association (APD), and Serralves Foundation, aims to accelerate the development of positive clean energy districts, driving us closer to carbon neutrality.
- Key Highlights:
Porto, as one of the six multiplier cities, is working alongside "lighthouse" cities Lyon and Munich to implement PCEDs. - The intervention area in Lordelo do Ouro includes 7 neighborhoods, 4 schools, and multiple municipal facilities, with a current capacity of 68 kWp of photovoltaic energy production, set to increase in 2024.
- The event fostered valuable discussions on potential synergies, with an open questionnaire to gather further contributions until May 3rd.
These initiatives not only combat climate change but also aim to build more inclusive, resilient, and smart cities. Porto's commitment to this international consortium is a step forward in achieving our ambitious goals for a sustainable future.
Congratulations to all the partners and participants for their dedication and innovative spirit! Let's continue to work together towards a greener tomorrow.
