The ASCEND project, in collaboration with three leading European initiatives—ATELIER, POCITYF, and NEUTRALPATH—invites you to a joint webinar that explores the critical role of energy communities in scaling Positive Energy Districts (PEDs). This session will offer a deep dive into real-world examples from the Netherlands, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Portugal, each illustrating different stages of PED development and showcasing diverse approaches to building resilient, community-driven energy systems.

Why Focus on Energy Communities?

Energy communities are increasingly recognized as a vital element in the transition to sustainable urban living. By empowering local stakeholders, these communities facilitate the deployment of renewable energy solutions, enhance energy efficiency, and foster a shared sense of ownership among citizens. However, establishing such communities is not without its challenges. The webinar will bring together project leaders to discuss their experiences, share insights, and provide practical guidance on overcoming barriers.

What to Expect from the Webinar

This webinar offers an excellent opportunity for stakeholders interested in the future of urban energy systems. Attendees will learn:

  • Practical strategies for overcoming common barriers in building energy communities.
  • Insights into the technical, social, and regulatory factors that influence energy community development.
  • Real-world examples of successful implementations and lessons learned.
