Lyon, 26 March 2025 — On 24 March, SPL Lyon Confluence became one of the newest signatories of the Agora Lyon 2030, marking a significant step in its ongoing commitment to local climate action. Invited by the City of Lyon, the SPL officially joined this collective initiative — formalised through a signing with the Mayor — which brings together territorial stakeholders to strengthen coordinated responses to climate challenges.

The Agora Lyon 2030 is an initiative rooted in the European Union’s “100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030” mission. It serves as a space for cooperation and experimentation among public and private actors operating in the Lyon metropolitan area. The objective is to accelerate the ecological transition by pooling expertise, sharing experiences, and co-developing innovative, scalable urban solutions.

As a participant in the Agora, SPL Lyon Confluence is contributing its expertise and capacity for action through its coordination of the ASCEND project. Within this framework, the organisation is advancing the Confluence Innovation Partnership (PIC), which is actively testing solutions across four key areas:

  1. Energy performance of buildings
Improving the efficiency of buildings through enhanced construction practices, energy retrofitting, and smart energy use.

  2. Renewable energies
Increasing the integration and use of renewable energy sources to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and promote energy independence.

  3. Carbon-free mobility
Developing low-emission and alternative mobility solutions to support sustainable transport for people and goods.

  4. Climate-friendly public spaces
Designing and implementing public areas that contribute to climate mitigation and adaptation, while enhancing the quality of urban life.

Through this engagement, SPL Lyon Confluence is reinforcing its role as a key urban stakeholder in Lyon’s transition to a more sustainable and inclusive city. Its participation in both the Agora and the ASCEND project exemplifies a concrete and coordinated approach to testing and scaling climate-positive solutions at district level.
