More space for people to meet - parklet in the Harthof district officially opened
What does it mean when two parking lots are transformed into an area with quality of stay, greenery and meeting places? On Friday 12 July, the residents of the Harthof district were able to see the results.
More than 100 visitors followed the invitation from the City of Munich and Münchner Gesellschaft für Stadterneuerung mbH to the official opening event.
After an opening speech by Jutta Koller, Deputy Chairwoman of the Milbertshofen-Am Hart District Council, and welcoming speeches by Dr Stefan Synek, ASCEND Project Manager, Melanie Grötsch, Mobility Department and Denise Kirchner, Department of Urban Planning and Building Regulations, a varied programme invited visitors to take part and exchange ideas. Whether it was face-painting, making seed bombs, a free bike safety check or spinning a wheel of fortune at the ASCEND information stand - there was something for everyone.
As part of ASCEND, the City of Munich has set up the parklet to show how public space can be repurposed. The parklet will be available to residents until the end of October and will be enlivened with a varied supporting programme.
